Randall Sinclair, Butler

Randall Sinclair is the intelligent, disciplined, and well-armed butler of the Wardens HQ in New York City. He was trained at the esteemed Albright Academy in the Netherlands in the early 1900s, and served as British Colonel Richard Wellington’s man servant during World War I. The Colonel himself was a field operative for the Wardens, and Sinclair accompanied him on many of his missions, some of which took them behind enemy lines.

The Colonel was killed on one such mission involving a clandestine raid on a remote mountaintop castle in Austria where — unrelated to the Great War — a doomsday cult was trying to someone an ancient and unknowable god. The War ended soon after, and Sinclair found he was not without a patron for long. Since he was already versed in the Wardens’ mission, he was recruited to serve as as one of the staff of the organization’s London Headquarters. A sterling service record saw him promoted through the ranks, and over the next decade he accompanied Wardens on missions to Paris, Istanbul, and Hong Kong. In 1935 he was appointed butler of the New York HQ, and has run the staff there ever since.

Sinclair is as crucial to the operation of the New York headquarters as as any field operative or learned scholar. He oversees the stores, ensures that everyone remembers to eat, and has an uncanny ability to appear at exactly the right moment with a cigar, scotch, or shotgun.

He does not suffer fools and ruffians, and sometimes comes into conflict (discreetly of course) with the Warden’s rougher members.
